GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has passed away.

Our correspondent gathered that Oba Adetona died at the age of 91.

A reliable source close to the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode and officials within the Ogun State Government confirmed the monarch’s death on Sunday.

Oba Adetona, who ascended the throne in 1960, was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers and a highly respected voice among Yoruba monarchs and across the country.

He was a towering figure in Nigerian traditional and political spheres, was known for his wisdom, progressive leadership, and unshakable commitment to the development of Ijebu land.
