Breaking: Buhari escapes being hit by stones as violence rocks Ogun APC rally

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday escaped being hit by one of the stones thrown at the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, as the party’s presidential rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State turned violent.

The event was in continuation of the nationwide presidential rally of the APC.

According to available video, the crowd at the rally turned violent when Buhari, who had just finished speaking, called for Abiodun and raised his hand as the party’s governorship candidate in the state.

The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had dissociated himself from the candidacy of Abiodun.
The stadium, which had a sizeable number of Amosun’s supporters, who are now backing the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement supported by the Governor, Adekunle Akinlade, became violent as President Buhari made to raise Abiodun’s hand.

One of the stones went in the direction of President Buhari.

However, one of the President’s security aides, who spotted the object, reacted quickly, with the stone hitting him.

The National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with whom Amosun also has a disagreement, left before the end of the rally owing to the development.
