Jailed APC Senator Campaigns For Buhari From Maximum Prison

A former governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, has called on people in the state and Nigeria at large to cast their vote for the All Progressive Congress, APC, Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Simon Lalong come 2019.

Senator Dariye, representing Plateau Central, made the plea from jail after he was convicted of corruption charges.
In a statement signed by his former campaign director, Chief Maichibi Vwarji, Dariye said the APC under the leadership of Lalong at the state level and Buhari at the federal level had performed creditably well and stabilized the polity.

“Governor Simon Lalong in particular has performed to the admiration of a lot of people. Despite the recent security breach in the state, he has been able to stabilize and promote mutual coexistence among groups, which gives credence to the prevailing peace,” Dariye said.
Meanwhile, the embattled governor is expected to re-contest for his Plateau Central seat in the National Assembly.

Mr Dariye was elected in 2015 under the platform of opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but decamped to the ruling APC in 2017.

Mr Dariye was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment earlier this year by Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the Federal High Court Abuja after being found guilty of diverting N1.162 billion state ecological founds when he was governor between 1999 and 2007.
