FG places #Endbadgovernance protests sponsors on watchlist

The Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) has added the sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protest to its watchlist.

This decision was announced by Comptroller-General Kemi Nandap on Tuesday, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

She said that these sponsors, who reside abroad, will be detained upon entering Nigeria.

This development follows a strategic meeting led by Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, attended by heads of intelligence and paramilitary agencies.

The purpose of the crucial meeting is to enforce President Bola Tinubu’s directive to address the protests.

Speaking to journalists, Nandap said, “We have diaspora sponsors on our watchlist. Any attempt they make to enter the country will be detected, and they will be apprehended and handed over to the appropriate authority.”

Nandap confirmed that additional NIS officers have been deployed to land borders and airports to enhance the monitoring of entry and exit points.

The Service has heightened surveillance to prevent external interference in the country’s affairs.

Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, through spokesman Peter Afunanya, mentioned that some sponsors have been identified and their bank accounts blocked, with ongoing monitoring of those operating from abroad.
