INNER WILL CLUB OF OLUMO DONATES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND HAND WASHING FACILITIES TO ADULT LITERACY CENTRE, OBADA-OKO

 

The Inner Wheel Club of Olumo on tuesday donated educational materials and hand washing facilities to the Adult Literacy Centre in Obada-Oko Mechanic Village, Ewekoro local government area in the Gateway state as part of the 2020/2021 projects of the Inner Wheel District 912.

Declaring open the programme with the theme ‘Lead the Change’, the Chairperson Inner Wheel Club, District 912, Mrs Ronke Solomon said the club promote education, empowerment, people’s welfare and foster friendship.

Represented by Mrs Atinuke Musa, Mrs Solomon explained that the club focuses on the promotion of literacy among the people, especially at the grassroot, saying that the facilities will go a long way in assisting the students of the centre.

In a remark, the President of the Inner Wheel Club of Olumo, Mrs Yetunde Ronke Badru said that the hand washing facilities are for the benefit of the adult literacy centre and those in the mechanic village, adding that the educational materials include 2A and 2B exercise books, bags, writing and drawing materials, attendance register, white board and marker, among others.

Delivering  a lecture entitled ‘Importance of Adult Literacy’, a lecturer at the department of Adult and Non-formal Education, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Rotarian Peluola Titilope pointed out that literacy opens the people’s mind and make them positive contributors to the nation’s socioeconomic and political development.

Also speaking, the immediate past President of the Inner Wheel Club of Olumo, Mrs Omonike Adeniji advised the students to always be punctual and take their studies serious,  saying that the gift will serve as motivation to enhance their studies.

Appreciating the Inner Wheel Club of Olumo for the gesture, the teacher, Mrs Rhoda Adesusi and the Class Captain, Alhaja Aminat  Ayinde said that it will go a long way to boost their knowledge.
